Hall of Fame
Flourishing in the fast-break basketball of Coach Sax Elliot, Leo “The Hawk” Hill set a Cal State L.A. scoring record that took 15 years to break. From 1959-61, Hill scored a total of 1,406 points and averaged 18.6 points per game.
He still stands as the No. 4 all-time scorer in Cal State L.A. history.
A three-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association pick, Hill was named to the Little All-America team in 1959 and 1960 and he was the MVP of the 1959 NCAA Western Regional College Division playoffs. Hill also was selected to the All-Tournament team as he helped Cal State L.A. finish fourth in the country.
After his senior year, Hill was drafted by the Los Angeles Jets of the now-defunct American Basketball League.
