One of the finest sprinters in Cal State L.A. history, Stan Allotey set five school records and won six conference championships in his career.

He twice represented Ghana in the Olympic Games, advancing to the semi-finals of the 100-meter dash in Tokyo in 1964, but aggravating an injury four years later in Mexico City.

In 1970, he set Ghanaian and Cal State L.A. records as he blazed the 220 yards in 20.5 seconds, equaling the No. 3 time in the world that year.

Starting out as a pole vaulter, Allotey turned to the sprints and, in 1966, won the British Commonwealth Games 200-meter championship.

As a Cal State L.A. freshman in 1968, he set school records in the 100, 220 and 440 yards and established a California Collegiate Athletic Association record in the 220. He was the CCAA sprint champion in 1970 and the PCAA sprint champion in 1971, when he anchored Cal State L.A.’s 440-yard relay team to a league title and a school record.
