Cliff Davis was a talented two-sport star for the Golden Eagles in the early 1950s, excelling in both track and field and football during his Cal State L.A. career.
Davis scored the most number of points for the Cal State L.A. track and field teams in 1951 and 1952 and he set school records in the shot put, discus and javelin. His discus record of 160-11 set in 1952 stood for 20 years.
He was also a member of the 1951 and 1952 Cal State L.A. football teams and earned All-League honors both seasons as a defensive tackle.
Davis was named Cal State L.A.’s “Outstanding Athlete” in 1952.
