Hall of Fame
One of the most dominant badminton players in United States history, Chris Kinard was undefeated in 1971 in his first season at Cal State L.A. and won league singles and doubles championships.
He won the U.S. Men’s Singles Championship six times and was the nation’s No. 1-ranked player seven times. He was a member of every U.S. Thomas Cup team (equivalent to the Davis Cup in tennis) from 1969 to 1982 and played No. 1 singles on the 1973, 1979 and 1982 Thomas Cup teams.
He was also the No. 1 U.S. Singles player on the 1977 Pan American team. In 1977, he won the National Collegiate singles and doubles championships.
Kinard was elected to the U.S. Badminton Hall of Fame, now the Walk of Fame, in 2003.
