Sherri Howard

Sherri Howard competed for the Cal State L.A. track and field team in 1984 and 1985 and enjoyed a record-breaking career as a Golden Eagle. She still holds a pair of program records and was a three-time U.S. Olympic Team member. Sisters Sherri and Tina were also inducted into the Cal State L.A. Hall of Fame in 1992.

Howard still holds the program record in the 400 meters with the time of 50.40 that she set in 1984 during the Olympic Trials. She also was part of the 4x400 relay team that included Sharon Dabney, Denean Howard and Tina Howard and set a school record of 3:30.25 in 1985.

Howard won the NCAA Division I 400-meter championship in 1985.

She also won a pair of Olympic medals, earning gold in the 4x400 relay (along with Denean) in 1984 and the silver in 1988 (again with Sherri).

Howard was also honored in 1985 with the prestigious Southland Olympia Award, presented to athletes in the 31 summer and winter Olympic sports who have extraordinary achievement in athletics, scholarship and leadership.

She earned her degree in electrical engineering at Cal State L.A. She is often recognized for her role in the movie, “The Scorpion King” and she has appeared on popular fitness shows over the years.
