Abdom Pinon was a four-year letterwinner with the Cal State L.A. baseball team from 1988-91. He became a three-time All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honoree, earning first-team honors in twice and second-team once. He won the Frank J. Candida Award in 1991 as Cal State L.A.’s top male athlete.
He became the program’s third player to earn All-Conference honors three times and was listed among the program’s leaders in five career categories. He still holds three career marks for most innings pitched (365 1/3), most games started (51) and most complete games (20). He also still shares the program’s single-season record for complete games with 10. His career total of 22 wins stood until 2009.
Pinon earned his degree at Cal State L.A. and went on to a career as a detention service officer for the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
