Joel Wiley was a nationally-ranked long jumper in the late 1950s and he still holds one of the best jumps in Cal State L.A. history.

His mark of 26-2.5 set in 1959 stood up as a program record until 1966. It is still the second-best mark in Cal State L.A. history.

Wiley was ranked No. 6 in the world in the long jump in 1958 and was No. 4 in the world in 1959.
