One of the most dominant sprinters in United States history, Rosalyn Bryant accomplished all that could be asked of an athlete: collegiate championships, an Olympic medal and world records.

She won every sprint race in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women national championships, capturing titles in the 100 and 200 meters in 1976, the 400 in 1977 and 1978 and the sprint medley relay in 1978 – in world-record time. In the 1978 AIAW championship meet, she scored a record 22 points.

Bryant was also the 1979 World University Games 400 champion and she set an American record in the 400 in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, a record that stood until 1984. She also anchored the U.S. 1600 meters relay team to an American record and a silver medal in Montreal.|

In 1977, Bryant set world indoor records at 220 and 500 yards. She was the 1975 AAU 100-meter champion.

She won Cal State L.A.’s All-University Award in 1978.
