Berhane Andeberhan was the men’s soccer coach at Cal State L.A. from 1981-86. He compiled a 74-34-14 overall record in his six seasons as the head coach.

He guided the Golden Eagles into the NCAA Tournament and a national runner-up finish in 1981. Cal State L.A. had a 20-3 record that season and the 20 wins is still a program single-season record. He led his teams to 11 or more victories in five of his six seasons as the head coach.

For his efforts in 1981, Andeberhan was named the Metropolitan Life Far West Coach of the Year. He was a five-time California Collegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year and he led his team to a pair of conference championships during his tenure. While coaching at Cal State L.A., Andeberhan mentored three professional athletes, three Division I All-Americans and five Dean’s List honorees.
