Cal State LA Athletics

2014: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in all 21 games and started 18 times. Played a total of 1,149 minutes. Had one assist and one point. Had an assist on a goal by Marvin Iskra in a 4-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 20. Played a season-high 93 minutes in a start at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 14. For his career, appeared in 42 games and started 20 times. Played a total of 2,130 minutes. Had one goal and one assist for three points.

2013: Made a big impact for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Appeared in all 21 games and started twice. Played a total of 981 minutes. His lone goal of the season was a big one, the game-winner in the first half of a 2-1 win over Sonoma State on Nov. 8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament. Was named to the CCAA Championships All-Tournament Team. Was also instrumental in a defensive effort that helped the Golden Eagles set a new program record for fewest goals allowed in a season and rank fifth nationally in goals against average.

At Mt. San Antonio College: Was a key member of a team that won two state championships and one national title in his two years with the program.

At Chino Hills High School: Played on the varsity team since his freshman year. Was the Most Valuable Defender as a sophomore and junior. Earned first-team All-League honors each year.

Personal: Son of Asfaw Teferi and Zenditu Yewondater. Majoring in computer science. Enjoys music, fitness and electronics. Lists being a major part of a team winning state and national titles at Mt. SAC and Cal State L.A.’s 2013 CCAA title as his most exciting experience in sports. Is a United States Marine.
