Cal State LA Athletics

2014: Had a strong season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in all 21 games and played a total of 717 minutes. Had two assists for two points. Made his Cal State LA debut and played 38 minutes in a 3-0 win over Western Washington on Sept. 4. Played a season-high 53 minutes and had an assist in an 8-1 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 6. Had an assist on a goal by Sigifredo Torres. Also had an assist on a goal by Jordan Payne in a 4-1 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 20.

At University of Memphis: Played in five matches and a total of 63 minutes for the Tigers in 2012. Played a season-high 19 minutes in a 5-0 win over Drake on Sept. 22. Did not play for the Tigers in 2013.

At Christian Brothers High School: Earned All-State honors in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Helped team win state title in 2009. Was a Gatorade “Player of the Year” runner-up as a senior and the Memphis Commercial Appeal “Best of Preps” selection as well. Competed in soccer and track and field in high school.

Personal: Son of Charles and Kristina Gardea. Majoring in political science. Enjoys golfing. Lists playing in Brazil with his high school team and winning the state championship during his sophomore year as his most exciting experience in sports.
