Biography

2014: Completed a record-breaking two-year career with the Golden Eagles. Shared the department's 2014-15 Frank J. Candida Award with Greg Veals as Cal State L.A.'s top male athlete. Started all 21 games and played 1,952 minutes. Led the nation in saves percentage with .882 and was second in goals against average of 0.41. Allowed only nine goals, which is a new program record. Set new single-season records for saves percentage, goals against average and shutouts with 13. Earned first-team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and second-team honors from Daktronics. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from both organizations. Also earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Made four saves plus a pair of big stops in the shootout to lift the Golden Eagles past UC San Diego in a first-round NCAA playoff game after a 1-1 tie on Nov. 7. Posted 1-0 shutout wins over Azusa Pacific and Seattle Pacific in the next two matches to help the Golden Eagles win the West Region championship. Made a career-high nine saves in a 1-0 shutout at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 3. For his career, appeared and started 40 games. Played a total of 3,784 minutes. Set new program records for career goals against average (0.48) and saves percentage (.880). Compiled 27 wins and 24 shutouts.

2013: Had a tremendous first season with the Golden Eagles. Earned second-team All-CCAA honors and second-team Daktronics All-West Region honors. Also picked up third-team All-West Region honors from the NSCAA. Led the CCAA and was fourth in the NCAA Division II in save percentage (.878) and was second in the conference and sixth in the nation in goals against average (0.54). Recorded 11 shutouts and.set a new program standard with six consecutive shutouts. Allowed only 11 goals in 19 starts. Was named the CCAA Championship Tournament Defensive Most Valuable Player after allowing only one goal in two games. Helped the Golden Eagles win the conference title by making five saves in a 1-0 win over UC San Diego in the championship match. Had a season-high nine saves in the Golden Eagles’ 2-1 loss to Simon Fraser in the second round of the NCAA playoffs. Had seven saves in a 1-0 win over Cal State Stanislaus on Oct. 13 and seven saves again in a 1-1 tie at UC San Diego on Nov. 3. Recorded shutouts in his first two starts with Cal State L.A. in 1-0 wins over Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 13 and UC San Diego on Sept. 15.

At Ohlone College: Was the Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year. Led the league in saves with 137. Also scored four goals.

At Chico State: Was on the roster, but did not compete for the Wildcats.

At Granada High School: Was a three-time team Most Valuable Player and earned All-Conference honorable mention three times. Was on the principal’s Honor Roll.

Personal: Son of Charlie and Denise Beigarten. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys hiking, going to the beach and spontaneous adventures with his girlfriend. Lists winning the CCAA Championship in 2013 and receiving the Most Valuable Defender award at the CCAA Tournament as his most exciting experience in sports.
