Biography

2017: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 20 games and started 19 times. Played a total of 1,239 minutes. Had one goal and six assists for eight points. Shared the team lead in assists. Was tied for sixth on the team in points. Had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win at Point Loma on Sept. 2. Had an assist on a game-winning goal by Damian Roszcyk in the 89th minute of a come-from-behind 4-3 win at Chico State in a first-round California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament game on Oct. 31. For his career, appeared in 50 games with 25 starts. Played a total of 2,632 minutes. Had two goals and nine assists for 13 points.

2016: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles.

2015: Had a second strong season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 14 games with six starts and had one goal and one assist for three points. Played a total of 811 minutes. Scored his first career goal in the 58th minute of a 1-1 tie against Stanislaus State in a first-round NCAA playoff game on Nov. 12. The goal erased a 1-0 deficit and the Golden Eagles ultimately advanced on penalty kicks. Had an assist on a game-tying goal by Troy Dumlao in the 88th minute of a CCAA Championship Tournament semi-final game at Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 6. Made his first career start for the Golden Eagles in a 2-1 overtime win over Cal State Stanislaus on Oct. 29. Started the final six games of the season. 
 
2014: Had an impressive first season with the Golden Eagles and was a key reserve in the midfield. Appeared in 16 games, including big minutes in Cal State LA’s four NCAA playoff games. Played a total of 582 minutes. Picked up a pair of assists in a 4-0 win at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 26. Made his Cal State LA debut in a 4-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 20.

At Santa Rosa Junior College: Competed as a defender. Was named the left back of the year and earned All-America honors.

At Piner High School: Competed in soccer and earned first-team all-conference honors all four years. Was the Freshman of the Year.

Personal: Son of Isaac Castro and Maricela Lara. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys hanging out with friends. Lists training with Club Atlas from Mexico as his most exciting experience in sports.
