Summary

Biography

2021: Had a sensational season for the national champions in his final year with the Cal State LA program.  Appeared in 21 games with three starts and played a total of 947 minutes. Had one goal and four assists for a total of six points. Scored his first career goal, the game-winner, in a 3-1 win at San Francisco State on Oct. 1. Set a new single-season high with four assists, including the helper on the game-winning goal by David Elizaga in a 1-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona in the Super Region 4 championship game on Dec. 4. Also had assists in games against Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8, Chico State on Oct. 29 and Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 14. For his career, appeared in 72 games with 53 starts. Played a total of 5,564 minutes. Had one goal and five assists for seven points.

2020: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Had a third outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his third year with the program. Appeared in 21 games and started in 20. Played a total of 1,906 minutes. Was a key part of Cal State LA’s defense. Returned from injury and played 20 minutes in a 2-0 win over Concordia on Sept. 9. Returned to the starting lineup and played all 90 minutes in a 3-0 win at Notre Dame de Namur on Sept. 16. Started every game for the remainder of the season.

2018: Had a strong second season with the Golden Eagles cut short due to injury. Started the Golden Eagles’ first eight games and was a mainstay on defense before a season-ending injury against Sonoma State on Sept. 23. Picked up one assist during the season in a 5-0 win over Humboldt State on Sept. 21.

2017: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles and was main contributor on defense. Started all 22 games and was second on the team in minutes played with 2,001. Earned a starting spot in the preseason and made his Cal State LA debut in the season opener against Bethesda on Aug. 31.

At Independence High School: Competed in high school.

Personal: Son of Jorge and Bianka Orellana. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys soccer. Lists winning important tournaments with club and Cal State LA as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he is really good at FIFA. Twin brother Jorge is also on Cal State LA’s roster.
