Biography

2021: Had a sensational season for the national champions in his one year with the Cal State LA program. Was named the NCAA Championships All-Tournament Defensive Most Valuable Player after leading the Golden Eagles to a pair of shutouts in the national semi-final and championship games. Earned first-team All-Region honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners Association and United Soccer Coaches. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and received All-CCAA Tournament honors as well. In addition to being a standout defensive player, also contributed offensively and was tied for the team lead with six goals and tied for second with 12 points.  Started all 21 games he played in for the Golden Eagles with a total of 1,969 minutes on the field. Scored single goals in six games during a nine-game span that stretched into the NCAA playoffs. Scored his first goal in a 3-0 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 22. Scored the game-tying goal in the 80th minute of a 3-2 win over Chico State on Oct. 29. Scored the game-tying goal in the 26th minute of a 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona in the regular-season finale on Nov. 4 and scored the go-ahead goal in the 23rd minute of a 4-2 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in a CCAA Tournament semi-final game on Nov. 12. Scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Colorado Pueblo in an NCAA Tournament game on Nov. 20 and had the game-tying goal on a penalty kick late in the first half of a 2-1 win over Colorado Mesa in the NCAA Super Region 4 semi-final game on Dec. 2. Helped Cal State LA post 13 shutouts on the season.

At Georgia Southern: Earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a defender. Earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 honors and received United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region second-team honors. Was also on the 2018-19 Sun Belt Conference Academic Commissioner’s List and made the 2018 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament team. Started 51 matches over three seasons with the program.

At Montessori School: Attended.

Personal: Son of Daniel Talavera and Paloma Plasencia. Majoring in business-management. Enjoys practicing other sports, hanging out with friends and family and music. Lists playing youth soccer for Atletico Madrid, being part of the 2015-16 La Liga Juvenil squad that went 24-4-4 and won its group and winning the 2015-16 Copa Del Rey Juvenil over crosstown rival Real Madrid as his most exciting experiences in sports.
