Biography

2023: Had another productive year for the Golden Eagles in his third and final season with the program. Appeared in 21 games with 17 starts. Played a total of 1,055 minutes. Had two goals and five assists for nine points. Was second on the team in assists and sixth in scoring. Recorded the first multi-goal game of his career when he scored two goals in a 5-0 win over San Francisco State on Sept. 29. Scored the first two goals of the game, one with an assist from Tommaso Belli and the second less than two minutes later with assists from Oscar Warne and Carson Nguyen. Picked up an assist on a goal from Bryan Ortega that made it 4-0 early in the second half. Had a career-high six shots – five on goal – in the game. Had the assist on a goal by Belli in a 1-0 win at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 6. Also had assists on a first-half goal by Ortega in a 5-0 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 15, a first-half goal by Carl Solli in a 2-0 win at Cal Poly Humboldt on Oct. 29 and the opening goal by Aidan Wait in a 4-2 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Nov. 2. Earned California Collegiate Athletic Association Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition. For his career, appeared in 63 games with 43 starts. Played a total of 2,940 minutes. Had six goals and 10 assists for 22 points.

2022: Had an outstanding year for the Golden Eagles in his second season with the program. Appeared in 19 games with 14 starts. Played a total of 970 minutes. Had three goals and four assists for 10 points. Was tied for fifth on the team in scoring. Tied for third on the team in assists. Picked up his first goal of the season in the program’s first-ever win over Simon Fraser, a 1-0 decision on Aug. 27. Had the game’s first goal in the ninth minute of a 1-1 tie at Cal Poly Humboldt on Sept. 30. Had the first goal and added an assist on the fourth goal of a 4-0 win at Stanislaus State on Oct. 21 for the first multi-point game of his career. Got his first assist of the season on a goal by Anton Olofsson in a 6-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 17. Had an assist on Carl Solli’s goal in a 1-0 victory at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 27 and had an assist on the game-winning goal by Alex Rodriguez in a 2-1 win over Sonoma State in a CCAA Tournament semifinal on Nov. 4. Earned a 2022-23 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honors. Also received 2022 CCAA Fall Academic Roll recognition.

2021: Made major contributions for the national champions in his first season with the program. Had his biggest moment of the season in the national semifinal game against Nova Southeastern on Dec. 9. Calmly converted his try from the penalty spot to clinch the shootout with a 3-1 advantage and send the Golden Eagles to the national title game.  Appeared in 23 games with 12 starts. Played a total of 915 minutes. Had one goal and one assist for three points. Scored his first goal for the Golden Eagles with the game-tying tally in a 3-1 win at San Francisco State on Oct. 1. Also had an assist on a goal by Gerard Hernando in a 3-0 win over Humboldt State on Oct. 31. Made his Cal State LA debut and got his first start while playing 57 minutes against Simon Fraser on Sept. 5. Played a season-high 77 minutes in a 1-0 win at Sonoma State on Oct. 3. Earned 2021-22 CCAA All-Academic honors.

2020: Earned 2020-21 CCAA All-Academic honors. Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Rybners Denmark: Played club soccer in high school.

Personal: Son of Steffen and Mona Paulsen. Majoring in business administration. Enjoys playing video games, mostly FIFA, spending time with friends and family and playing poker. Lists winning the 2021 national championship with Cal State LA as his most exciting experience in sports.
