Cal State LA Athletics

2017: Had his second strong season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in eight games. Played a total of 195 minutes. Had one goal and one assist for three points. Had the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 10. Had an assist on a goal by Rigoberto Maciel in a 4-0 win over Bethesda on Aug. 31. Played a career-high 41 minutes in a 1-0 win over Hawaii-Hilo on Sept. 19. Earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association Fall All-Academic Award for the second straight year. For his career, appeared in 17 games and started once. Played a total of 400 minutes. Had two goals and three assists for seven points.

2016: Had a solid start to his Cal State LA career. Appeared in nine games and started once. Had one goal and two assists for four points. Scored a game-tying goal early in the second half at Sonoma State on Oct. 29. Assisted on Shahin Hemat’s game-winning goal in a 1-0 win at Chico State on Oct. 7. Also had an assist on Hemat’s goal in a 2-1 win at Cal Poly Pomona in a CCAA Tournament first-round win on Nov. 1. Earned a California Collegiate Athletic Association Fall All-Academic Award.

At Chaminade: Was named the PacWest Freshman of the Week on Sept. 14, 2015. Scored a pair of goals and had four points. Appeared in all 16 games with seven starts. Scored a goal on his first shot against BYU-Hawaii on Sept. 12. Also scored a goal against Dominican on Oct. 24.

At Buchanan High School: Competed in soccer and track and field. Was a three-year starter in high school and led the team in assists each year. Had 15 goals and 15 assists as a senior and was the conference Offensive Player of the Year. Was named the Fresno Bee Player of the Year and named to the All-State team by Top Drawer Soccer. Team won the CIF Valley Championship during his junior and senior years. Was also named to the Lotto Sport Western Showcase All-Tournament Team.

Personal: Son of Craig and Denise Arkelian. Majoring in Exercise Science. Enjoys going to the beach and hanging out with friends. Lists helping his high school team win back-to-back CIF Valley Championships as his most exciting experience in sports.
