Cal State LA Athletics

2019: Completed his playing career with the Golden Eagles and had an outstanding season. Appeared in all 23 games with three starts. Played a total of 933 minutes. Scored the final goal in a 3-0 win at Notre Dame de Namur on Sept. 16. Had the assist on a goal by Antonio Rosas in a 1-0 win at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 27 and had an assist on a goal by Cyrille Njomo in a 3-0 victory at San Francisco State on Nov. 7. Made his first career start in a 4-0 win over Northwest Nazarene on Sept. 5 and started the Golden Eagles’ first three contests of the season. For his career, appeared in 37 games with three starts. Played a total of 1,370 minutes. Had one goal and two assists for four points.

2018: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles and was a redshirt.

2017: Made an immediate contribution in his first year with the program. Appeared in 14 games and played a total of 437 minutes.  Made his Cal State LA debut and played a total of 13 minutes in a 4-0 win against Bethesda on Aug. 31. Played a season-high 68 minutes in a California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament semi-final against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Nov. 3.

At Fresno City College: Was on a team that finished ranked No. 3 in the nation. Earned the Best Goal of the Year Award in 2015 and 2016 and earned first-team All-Conference honors. Earned an award for Midfielder of the Year from the school. Was also on the school’s Dean’s List.

At Bullard High School: Was the Conference and Team Most Valuable Player and earned the Iron Knight Award. Also was on the County All-Star team and the East vs. West first team. Was also a scholar-athlete.

Personal: Son of Veronica Barraza. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys playing video games, going out and eating and playing more soccer. Lists taking Fresno City College to its first soccer state championship game in school history as his most exciting experience in sports.
