Cal State LA Athletics

2020: Earned 2020-21 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and also received 2020 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition in his final year with the program. Was Cal State LA’s recipient of the 2020-21 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Award, an award presented by the CCAA for exemplary commitment to athletic and academic pursuits. Team did not compete due to COVID-19. For his career, appeared in 17 games with five starts. Played a total of 772 minutes.

2019: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles and was a big part of one of the most memorable moments of the season. Successfully converted on his shootout try to lift the Golden Eagles past St. Mary’s in an NCAA playoff game after a 1-1 tie on Dec. 5. Also made his shootout attempt in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship game on Nov. 17. Appeared in five games and played a total of 76 minutes. Received 2019-20 CCAA All-Academic honors and was also part of the CCAA 2019 Fall All-Academic Team.

2018: Made a positive impact for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Appeared in 12 games with five starts and played a total of 696 minutes. Made his first start for Cal State LA and played all 90 minutes in a 2-0 win at Northwest Nazarene on Aug. 30. Made his final start of the season and played all 102 minutes in a 1-0 win at Cal State San Marcos. Earned 2018-19 CCAA All-Academic honors as well as 2018 CCAA Fall Academic recognition.

At Duquesne: Led the NCAA Division I team in assists as a freshman . Played in 10 games and made one start. Had a 3.5 grade point average.

At Thor Heyerdahl VGS: Was captain on a team that won the National Tournament U19 in Norway. Team also won a regional championship. Had the “Goal of the Year” in the national tournament. Captained his high school team for three years and was an ambassador for top-level sports as a senior.

Personal: Son of Vidar and Line Evensen. Majoring in business management. Enjoys soccer, golfing, photography, and skiing. Lists winning the national tournament in 2017 with his premier league academy team and scoring the equalizer in a second division game as his most exciting experiences in sports.
