Cal State LA Athletics

2021: Saw playing time for the national champions in his final year with the program. Appeared in four games and played a total of 34 minutes. Made his Cal State LA debut on Sept. 15 at Concordia. Played a season-high 18 minutes in a 3-0 win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8. Earned 2021-22 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition.

2020: Earned 2020-21 CCAA All-Academic honors. Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019: Was on the roster, but did not compete in any games for the Golden Eagles and was a redshirt.

At Fresno City College: Earned second-team All-Conference honors both seasons with the program and was on a state championship team in 2017. Team also won two conference titles during his time with the program.

At Bullard High School: Competed in soccer, cross country and track and field. Earned All-League honors four times in cross country, three times in soccer and four times in track and field. Was part of the valley 4x400 relay championship team. Was a four-year Scholar-Athlete in cross country, soccer and track and field.

Personal: Son of Cruz Covarrubias and Amelia Magana. Majoring in sociology. Enjoys hiking and playing video games. Lists winning the valley championship in the 4x400 and competing in the state track and field championships and winning the first-ever state title in men’s soccer at Fresno City College as his most exciting experiences in sports.
