Biography

2014: Had his best season yet for the Golden Eagles and concluded an outstanding four-year career. Appeared in 21 games and started 15 times. Played a total of 874 minutes. Led the team with seven goals and also had four assists for 18 points. Was second on the team in scoring. Earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Had a goal and an assist in the Golden Eagles' season-opening 3-0 win over Western Washington on Sept. 4. Had two goals and added another assist in an 8-1 win over Saint Martin's on Sept. 6. Had both goals in a 2-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 10. Had the biggest goal of the season when he scored 1:02 into overtime to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 victory at Seattle Pacific in the West Region championship game on Nov. 20. Also had a goal in a 4-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 20. For his career, appeared in 82 games and started 16 times. Played a total of 2,930 minutes. Had 14 goals and 10 assists for 38 points.

2013: Had another strong season in his third year with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in all 21 games for Cal State L.A. and played a total of 681 minutes. Was fifth on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for eight points. Picked up the Golden Eagles’ goal in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Simon Fraser in the second round of the NCAA playoffs on Nov. 16. Recorded his first goal of the season in a 6-1 victory over Saint Martin’s on Sept. 8. Also had a goal in a 4-2 win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 11. Picked up assists in a 2-1 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 29 and in a 3-2 win at Humboldt State.

2012: Played well for the Golden Eagles in his second season with the program. Appeared in 18 games for Cal State L.A. and played a total of 562 minutes. Had one goal and two assists for a total of four points. Scored his lone goal of the season against Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 30. Also picked up assists in wins over Cal State East Bay on Sept. 21 and Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 23.

2011: Had an impressive first season for the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 22 games and started one. Played a total of 808 minutes. Had three goals and two assists for a total of eight points. Got the start in Cal State L.A.’s season opener against Saint Martin’s on Sept. 1. Scored his first goal of the season in a 3-0 victory at San Francisco State on Oct. 2. Notched his second goal in a 4-2 win at UC San Diego on Oct. 14 and added his third goal at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 30. Also had assists in games against Colorado Mesa on Sept. 3 and Humboldt State on Oct. 9.

At Cal State Bakersfield: Did not compete in any games for the Roadrunners.

At Christ The King High School: Set a school record for most goals in a season with 19. Named the Most Valuable Player in the Burlington Interschool Tournament.

Personal: Son of Bain and Lorna Payne. Majoring in international business. Enjoys traveling, hockey, soccer, music, surfing and the beach. Lists winning the CCAA Championship at Cal State L.A. as his most exciting experience in sports.
