2012: Had a second outstanding season with the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Made 12 starts and had a 7-3 record with a 2.71 earned run average. Tossed five complete games with two shutouts. Walked 23 and struck out 61 in 69 2/3 innings pitched. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics and second-team All-West Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Also earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. An outstanding student as well, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honors. Led the team in earned run average and wins and was second in innings pitched. Was outstanding down the stretch and won his last five starts, allowing only four earned runs over 33 2/3 innings (1.07 earned run average). Finished the season with back-to-back seven-inning, complete-game shutouts, allowing a total of five hits in 14 innings. Allowed two hits and walked two while striking out eight in a 3-0 win over UC San Diego and gave up three hits and two walks while striking out four in a 6-0 win at Dixie State on May 5. Finished the season with a 20-inning scoreless streak. Started his winning streak by allowing eight hits and two runs over six innings of a 9-2 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on April 6. Allowed only four hits and one run over 6 2/3 innings in a 9-1 win over Sonoma State on April 15 and gave up only a first-inning run on a double steal and gave up five hits over seven innings in a 4-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on April 21. Named Cal State L.A.'s Exceptional Student-Athlete of the Year (male) for 2011-12. For his career, made 25 appearances and 24 starts. Had a 14-5 record with a 2.03 earned run average. Walked 54 and struck out 135 in 141 2/3 innings. Had 11 complete games and four shutouts.

2011: Had a tremendous first season with the Golden Eagles and was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Co-Pitcher of the Year. Compiled a 7-2 record with a magnificent 1.38 earned run average. Earned Daktronics third-team All-America honors as well as first-team All-West Region recognition. Made 12 starts and pitched a total of 72 innings. Allowed one or no earned runs in his first 10 starts of the season. Went six or more innings in his final nine starts of the season. Had a one-hit, seven-inning complete game shutout over Cal State East Bay on March 5. Walked one and struck out a season-high nine. Named the NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association.. Had six complete games in seven-inning contests and two shutouts. Blanked Cal State Monterey Bay on just two hits on April 9. Was named CCAA Pitcher of the Week twice. Earned weekly honors for the week of Feb. 28 – March 6 after his shutout over Cal State East Bay and again for the week of April 4-10 after his shutout of Cal State Monterey Bay. Allowed only nine extra-base hits and one home run all season.
 
At West Los Angeles College: Earned All-Western State South Conference first-team honors in 2009 after going 4-1 with a 2.85 earned run average.
 
At Colegio CK Brazil: Pitched for the Brazilian national team.
 
Personal: Son of Yoshio and Lucia Asakura. Majoring in international business. Enjoys music, the guitar and the beach. Lists playing for the Brazilian national team as his most exciting experience in sports.
