Cal State LA Athletics

2012: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 37 games with 27 starts. Hit .358 with 29 hits in 81 at bats. Had five home runs, five doubles, 15 runs scored and 22 runs batted in. Also pitched and made 17 appearances, including two starts. Went 2-1 with a 5.59 earned run average and one save. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings as well as second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Went 2-for-4 with a career-high four RBI at San Francisco State on March 4. Matched the career-high four RBI while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored against Chico State on March 30. Hit a pair of home runs at Cal State Monterey Bay on April 5 and hit his third home run of the series and drove in three runs on April 6. Hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the opener of a doubleheader at Cal State San Bernardino on May 10. Had seven multi-hit games. Allowed only three hits and a run over three strong innings to pick up the win in a 15-5 victory at California Baptist on Feb. 1. Gave up two hits and one run over three innings to get the win in a 21-13 victory over Chico State on March 30. Got the final two outs to preserve an 8-5 win over Sonoma State on April 14. For his career, appeared in 49 games with 31 starts. Hit .323 with 30 hits in 93 at bats. Had five home runs, six doubles, 17 runs scored and 23 RBI. On the mound, made 25 appearances and three starts. Had a 3-2 record with a 5.85 earned run average and one save. Walked 32 and struck out 53 in 47 2/3 innings pitched. 

2011: Contributed on the mound and at the plate for the Golden Eagles in his first season with the program. Had a 1-1 record on the mound with a 6.27 earned run average. Tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings and picked up the win at Sonoma State on March 13. Came on in relief the previous day and struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for his performance. Went 7 1/3 innings and allowed only one hit while walking just two and striking out 11. Pitched a total of 18 2/3 innings for the season. Walked 11 and struck out 26. Also had one hit, a double, in 12 at bats. Scored two runs and drove in one. Made only one error in 32 chances at first base.
 
At Pierce College: Earned first-team Western State South All-Conference honors as a utility player in 2010. Hit .372 with three home runs, 43 RBI and 23 runs scored. Also had 12 doubles, a slugging percentage of .545 and an on-base percentage of .449. Also compiled a 4-1 record on the mound with a 5.62 earned run average. Made 11 appearances and nine starts. Walked 18 and struck out 65 in 72 innings. Also earned first-team All-Conference honors in 2009 as a pitcher. Made 11 starts and had a 5-2 record with a 3.23 earned run average. Walked 22 and struck out 63 in 69 2/3 innings. Also led the team in hitting with a .370 average. Had 27 hits in 73 at bats.
 
At Notre Dame High School: Was the California Co-Player of the Year for Division III. Was the Mission League Most Valuable Player. Competed in baseball and basketball.
 
Personal: Son of Karla Rodarte. Majoring in business finance. Enjoys movies and hanging out with friends. Lists pitching at Dodger Stadium in a championship game as a senior in high school as his most exciting experience in sports. Has one brother, Daniel.
