Biography

2009: Made significant contributions as a freshman last season for the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 25 games and started 17 times. Hit .254 with 17 hits in 67 at bats. Belted a big three-run home run in a California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills on May 8. Also had a double and scored two runs in the 13-7 victory. Hit his first home run – a solo shot – at UC San Diego on Feb. 26. Hit safely in four of the last five games of the season.
 
At Royal High School: Earned second-team All-State and second-team All-CIF honors. Also earned All-Ventura County and All-Marmonte League honors.
 
Personal: Son of Michael and Terrie Vinyard. Majoring in communications. Enjoys surfing. Lists playing at Safeco Field as his most exciting experience in sports.
