Summary

Biography

2010: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 49 games and started 48 times. Hit .433 with 84 hits in 194 at bats. Had nine home runs, 15 doubles, four triples, 39 runs scored and 60 runs batted in. Led the team in batting average, home runs and RBI. Was second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in batting average. Earned third-team All-America honors from Daktronics. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics and second-team All-Region honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Also earned first-team All-CCAA honors. Went 3-for-5 with a double, a grand slam home run and a season-high seven RBI in a 17-7 at Cal State Monterey Bay on March 13. Also went 2-for-6 with a double, grand slam home run and six RBI in a 16-2 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 25. In the four-game series, went 6-for-14 with four runs scored and 11 RBI. Went 5-for-6 with a double, triple and three RBI in a 17-6 victory at San Francisco State on March 7. In that four-game series, went 11-for-17 with three runs scored and five RBI. Went 3-for-5 with a double, home run and four RBI in an 11-10 win over Sonoma State on April 25. Drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Had 25 multi-hit games, including nine with three or more hits. Hit safely in 43 of 49 games and finished the season on a 13-game hitting streak. Was one of two Cal State L.A. recipients of the 2009-10 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award from the CCAA for academic and athletic accomplishments. Signed a professional contract with the independent Florence Freedom of the Frontier League and later represented Great Britain in the 2010 European Senior Championships.

At Westmont College: Named to the All-Golden State Athletic Conference team in 2009. Led the team in hitting with a .392 average. Had five home runs and 18 RBI. Had a slugging percentage of .572 and on-base percentage of .460.

At University of San Francisco: Hit .194 in 21 games with six hits in 31 at bats. Scored four runs.

At Tulane University: Batted .333 in four games with two hits and one RBI as a freshman.

At Loyola High School: Played three years of varsity baseball. Hit .486 as a senior and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. Also earned All-City, All-Region and All-CIF honors.

Personal: Son of Sharon Howard-Field. Majoring in history. Enjoys baseball, ping-pong, surfing and body-boarding. Was on Great Britain’s roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup. Was born in London, England.
