Cal State LA Athletics

2010: Was a big part of the pitching staff for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Made 17 appearances with 10 starts. Had a 2-2 record with a 6.87 earned run average and one save. Had 39 walks and 27 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings pitched. Was second on the team in innings pitched. Pitched a scoreless inning to get the save in a 6-5 victory at San Francisco State on March 6. Pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings the next day in a 17-6 victory at San Francisco State on March 7 and picked up his first win. Gave up six hits and two runs over 6 1/3 innings to get the win in a 5-4 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay in his second start of the season. Went a season-long seven innings and got a no-decision in an 11-10 win over Sonoma State on April 25. Struck out a season-high five in four innings against Chico State on April 11.

At R.E. Mountain High School: Competed in baseball and had the team’s best strikeout ratio.

Personal: Son of Robin and Merrika Young. Is an undeclared major. Enjoys baseball. Lists throwing a no-hitter as his most exciting experience in sports. Was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 39^th round of the 2009 draft. Competed for the Canadian Junior National Team.
