Summary

Biography

2010: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 48 games and started 47 times. Hit .272 with 49 hits in 180 at bats. Had two home runs, 13 doubles, 31 runs scored and 24 runs batted in. Also had another tremendous defensive season, committing only eight errors in 218 chances for a fielding percentage of .963. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Hit both his home runs in the final series of the season. Went 3-for-4 with two RBI and his first home run of the season at Cal State East Bay in the opener of a doubleheader on May 1 and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and his second home run in the nightcap. Hit safely in 11 of the last 12 games of the season. Had 12 multi-hit games. For his career, appeared in 90 games and started 89 times. Hit .282 with 92 hits in 326 at bats. Had four home runs, 20 doubles, 68 runs scored and 48 RBI. Was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 24th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Advanced to Triple-A later that year.

2009: Had an outstanding first year with the Golden Eagles and was one of the best defensive shortstops in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Hit .295 with 43 hits in 146 at bats. Had an on-base percentage of .390. Scored 37 runs and drove in 24. Slugged his first home run of the season against Cal State Stanislaus on April 11. Also had a home run in a non-conference game against Concordia-Irvine on April 13. Drove in a season-high three runs against Vanguard on April 29. Hit safely in 21 of the team’s last 27 games. Had a fielding percentage of .947 with only 12 errors in 216 chances.

At East Los Angeles College: Earned second-team All-South Coast League honors as a sophomore after hitting .248 with one home run and 21 RBI and posting a fielding percentage of .962. Earned first-team All-Conference honors as a freshman after hitting .314 with 18 RBI.

At Roosevelt High School: Was the team’s Most Valuable Player and earned All-League and All-City honors. Competed in baseball and cross country.

Personal: Son of Santiago and Yolanda Campos. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys working out, friends and cars. Lists winning the World Series in Ohio as his most exciting experience in sports.
