Cal State LA Athletics

2008: Had a successful season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Made 15 appearances, including one start. Had a 2-1 record with a 4.91 earned run average and one save. Had 20 walks and 20 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings pitched. Made his Cal State L.A. debut a winning one, allowing only three hits and one run in three innings to get the victory in a 10-8 triumph over Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 2. Pitched two scoreless innings and got the win in a 10-3 victory at Cal State San Bernardino on April 19. Went 3 1/3 strong innings and got the save in an 8-5 victory at Cal State Stanislaus on Feb. 29. Allowed three hits and two runs and struck out a season-high five. Had a total of seven scoreless outings.

At Oxnard High School: Hit .386 as a senior with four home runs and 25 RBI. Also had a 5-1 record with a 1.83 earned run average as a pitcher. Earned All-League honors three times during his high school career.

Personal: Son of Edward and Esther Hong. Is an undeclared major. Enjoys baseball. Lists making it to the semi-finals of CIF as his most exciting experience in sports.
