Summary

Biography

2008: Had a sensational second season with the Golden Eagles that was cut short due to injury. Started 28 games. Hit .380 with 41 hits in 108 at bats. Had eight home runs, five doubles, four triples, 34 runs scored and 22 RBI. Was second in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in home runs at the time of his injury. Earned All-CCAA honorable mention. Went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored, four RBI in an 11-4 win over Cal Poly Pomona in the second game of a doubleheader on Feb. 2. Went 7-for-9 with five runs scored and six RBI in the doubleheader. Went 3-for-5 with a double and a home run against Chico State on Feb. 22 and went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored in a 7-6 win over Chico State on Feb. 23. Hit a three-run home run at Cal State Stanislaus on March 2 and went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI in a 6-2 win at UC San Diego on March 8. Had 12 multi-hit games. For his career, appeared in 62 games and started 40 times. Hit .339 with 56 hits in 165 at bats. Had 10 home runs, eight doubles, four triples, 47 runs scored and 37 RBI. Signed a professional contract with the independent Yuma Scorpions and later in 2008 joined the Cincinnati Reds' rookie team.

2007: Made 34 appearances and started 12 times for the Golden Eagles. Finished the season with a .263 batting average with 15 hits, 15 RBI and 13 runs scored in 57 at bats. Slugged a game-winning grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Cal State L.A. to an 11-8 win over Pace University on March 18. Also had a three-run home run to cap an eight-run, ninth-inning rally in a 12-6 win at Cal Poly Pomona on March 3. Made only five errors in 62 fielding chances for a .925 fielding percentage.

At Compton College: Hit .331 and scored 21 runs in a team-high 148 at bats in 2006. Earned honorable mention All-South Coast Conference honors.

At Downey High School: Competed in football and baseball in high school. Was a scholar-athlete in both sports and earned first-team All-San Gabriel Valley League honors as a junior and senior in baseball. Was part of a league champion football team as well.

Personal: Son of Walter and Barbara Hale. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys spending time with his family and friends, paintballing, snowboarding and the river. Lists reaching the 2007 College World Series, making the West All-Stars in the WCCBL summer baseball league and hitting the walk-off grand slam home run to win the game against Pace University last year as his most exciting experiences in sports.
