At Valencia High School: Earned second-team All-League honors as a junior and senior. Was the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year at Valencia in 2006-07) and was on the school’s Honor Roll all four years. Also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors twice.

Personal: Son of Mike and Lori Matzner. Is an undeclared major. Enjoys baseball and hanging out with friends. Lists clinching the league championship last year and winning the San Diego Tournament during his junior year in high school as his most exciting experiences in sports.
