Cal State LA Athletics

2008: Had a strong season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 14 games with nine starts. Had a 3-2 record with a 6.47 earned run average. Had 16 walks and 56 strikeouts in 57 innings pitched. Was third on the team in innings pitched. Started the season in the bullpen and first five appearances were in relief. Made his first start and pitched five innings at Cal State Stanislaus on March 2. Allowed five hits and two earned runs. Went six strong innings against Cal State Monterey Bay on March 30 and picked up his first victory. Allowed eight hits and two earned runs while walking three and striking out seven in an 11-4 victory. Allowed eight hits and four runs over seven innings to get his second win, a 16-4 victory at Cal State San Bernardino on April 19. Picked up his third win in his final start, allowing six hits and three earned runs over six innings of a 10-6 victory at San Francisco State. Walked one and struck out a season-high nine. Signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Mariners after the season.

At Cal State Fullerton: Made 19 appearances for the Titans in 2007 and was part of the squad that reached the Division I College World Series. Threw 18 2/3 innings and had a 0-0 record with a 2.89 earned run average. Walked six and struck out 15 and limited opponents to a .236 batting average.

At Fullerton College: Compiled a 5-6 record with a 3.53 earned run average and 94 strikeouts for the Hornets in 2006. Made 14 starts and ranked in the top 25 in the state in complete games with five, fewest walks per nine innings (1.1) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.8). Was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference team two times.

At Ayala High School: Earned All-Sierra League honors twice.

Personal: Son of Gary and Tina Birosak. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys surfing. Lists pitching in the 2007 College World Series as his most exciting experience in sports.
