2008: Had another terrific season for the Golden Eagles in his fourth and final year with the program. Appeared in 50 games and started 48 times. Hit .310 with 49 hits in 158 at bats. Had three home runs, seven doubles, 25 runs scored and 28 runs batted in. Had a fielding percentage of .985 with only four errors in 263 chances and was one of the top defensive catchers in the conference. Went 3-for-4 with a home run and a career-high five RBI in a 16-3 win at San Francisco State on May 2. Had home runs in both ends of a doubleheader at Cal State San Bernardino on April 19. Hit a two-run home run in a 16-4 win in the opener and hit a solo shot in a 10-3 win in the nightcap. Had 15 multi-hit games, including two games with three hits. For his career, appeared in 187 games and started 171 times. Hit .298 with 169 hits in 567 at bats. Had seven home runs, 20 doubles, three triples, 90 runs scored and 85 RBI. Was selected in the 24th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners.

2007: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles. Was named to the NCAA Division II West Regional All-Tournament team after hitting .438 with three runs scored and five RBI in the Golden Eagles’ five games. Finished the year with a .315 batting average with 25 runs scored and 20 RBI. Also had a banner year behind the plate, committing only one error in recording a fielding percentage of .997. Had a sizzling series against San Francisco State, going 6-of-12 with five runs scored and six RBI in three games. Collected a season high three RBI against Cal Poly Pomona on March 2. Had a pair of three-hit games against San Francisco State on Feb. 24 and at Cal State San Bernardino on April 6.

2006: Hit .299 as a sophomore with three home runs, 26 RBI and 28 runs scored. Picked up CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of April 24-30 after going 13-of-22 with 10 RBI and five runs scored in a pair of games against The Master’s College and a four-game series against Sonoma State. Went 3-for-3 with three RBI against Sonoma State on April 28 and came back with a 3-for-5 effort with two runs scored and one RBI on April 30. Earned the team Grinder Award.

2005: Had a productive freshman season, hitting .261 with one home run, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored in 119 at bats.

At Duarte High School: Earned All-Montview League honors in 2003-04 and was the team’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2004. Was named to the All-Tournament Team in 2002.

Personal: Son of Luis and Martha Contreras. Majoring in criminal justice. Lists competing in the College World Series in 2007 and in two regionals in 2006 and 2007 as his most exciting experiences in sports.
