2023: Was one of the team’s best pitchers once again in his second and final season with the program. Had a 4-1 record with one save and a 3.67 earned run average. Made 16 appearances with one start. Walked eight and struck out 30 in 27 innings pitched. Led the team in appearances, was tied for second with four wins, third in strikeouts and fifth innings pitched. Made his season debut as a starter and went three innings against The Master’s on Feb. 3. Allowed four runs over three innings and suffered his only loss of the season. Tossed a season-high 4 1/3 innings and didn’t allow a run against Montana State-Billings on Feb. 8. Allowed only three hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out six. Got his first win of the season when he got the final out in the top of the eighth inning in a 10-9 victory over Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 18. Allowed one run in one inning and got the win in a 15-8 victory in 10 innings at Cal Poly Pomona on April 6. Tossed 2 2/3 hitless innings to pick up the win in a 7-6 victory over Sonoma State on April 14. Picked up his final win with two innings of relief in a 9-8 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on April 28. Got his lone save of the season when he threw two scoreless innings of relief to preserve a 9-7 win over Cal State San Bernardino on April 18. For his career, made 35 appearances with one start. Had a 6-4 record with a 2.66 earned run average over 61 innings. Walked 21 and struck out 57.

2022: Had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and was one of the team’s best pitchers. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Had a 2-3 record with a 1.85 earned run average and a team-leading five saves. Had the team’s best earned run average. Was tied for fifth in the CCAA in saves. Led the team with 19 appearances, all in relief. Pitched a total of 34 innings and had 13 walks and 27 strikeouts. Made his Cal State LA debut and struck out three in one inning of work against Montana State-Billings on Feb. 4. Picked up his first with three innings of scoreless relief at Biola on Feb. 19. Gave up only one hit and struck out four in an 8-7 win. Picked up his second win in his next appearance, striking out two in a scoreless inning in a 4-3 win over Stanislaus State on Feb. 26. Picked up his first save with 1 2/3 scoreless innings against Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 19. Got the final two outs in a 16-13 win over Cal State East Bay on April 15 for his second save and picked up his third save with a scoreless inning in an 8-6 win at Sonoma State on April 23. Picked up saves in his final two appearances of the season, tossing two scoreless innings in a 9-8 win at San Francisco State on May 5 and pitching the final inning of a 12-9 victory. Pitched a season-high five innings at Cal State Monterey Bay on April 9 and allowed only three hits and one run while striking out a season-high six against Cal Poly Pomona on May 1. Gave up no earned runs in 15 of his 19 appearances.

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Fresno City College: Recorded a 5-1 record with seven saves and 66 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings pitched in his two years with the program. Had a 2.26 earned run average, including a 0.84 earned run average in 2020. Earned first-team All-Conference and second-team All-State honors.

At Clovis North High School: Earned the team’s Pitcher of the Year award in 2018 and received first-team All-TRAC honors in back-to-back seasons.

Personal: Son of Joe and Cheryl Chavez. Majoring in operations and supply chain management. Enjoys traveling, rock climbing and drawing. Lists throwing a no-hitter against a rival school during his senior year in high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
