Biography

2024: Contributed once again for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in five games. Hit .333 with two hits in six at bats. Picked up the first run batted in of his career with a bases-loaded walk as a pinch hitter in a win against La Sierra on Feb. 16. Went 1-1 against Hawaii-Hilo on Feb. 4 and went 1-3 against La Sierra on Feb. 17. Earned 2023-24 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and 2024 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. Also earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award. For his career, appeared in 20 games with one start. Hit .263 with five hits in 19 at bats. Scored two runs and drove in one run.

2023: Made contributions again for the Golden Eagles in his second season on the field. Appeared in five games and made the first start of his career. Hit .167 with one hit in six at bats. Also drew a walk and had an on-base percentage of .286. Scored a pair of runs. Made his first career start and went 1-for-3 with a run scored against Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 19. Also scored a run against Cal State San Marcos on March 19. Handled his lone fielding chance flawlessly. Earned 2022-23 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic honors and 2023 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll recognition. Also earned a 2022-23 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

2022: Made contributions for the Golden Eagles in his first year on the field. Appeared in 10 games and picked up two hits and seven at bats for a .286 batting average. Also drew two walks and had an on-base percentage of .444. Made his Cal State LA debut and picked up a single in his lone at bat against Montana State Billings on Feb. 6. Also picked up a hit in his next appearance in a 15-5 win at Redlands on Feb. 11.   

2021: Was on the roster, but team did not compete due to COVID-19.

At Washington High School: Was the 2020 Male Athlete of the Year. Also earned first-team All-League honor as an infielder and was the team’s Co-Most Valuable Player as a junior. Competed in baseball and basketball.

Personal: Son of Steve and Debi Murata. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys fishing and video games. Lists hitting walk-offs in baseball and game-winning shots in basketball as his most exciting experiences in sports.
