Cal State LA Athletics

2024: Was a major part of the Golden Eagles pitching staff in his one year with the program. Led the team with 17 appearances, all in relief. Had a 2-0 record with a 2.29 earned run average. Walked eight and struck out 14 in 19 2/3 innings. Led the team in earned run average. Made his Cal State LA debut and pitched a scoreless inning against Chaminade on Feb. 2. Picked up his first victory with two scoreless innings in a 10-9 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 9. Picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief in an 8-7 win over Sonoma State on April 12. Pitched a season-high three innings and allowed only two hits and an unearned run against Cal Poly Pomona on April 19. Allowed one earned run or fewer in 16 of 17 games, including 13 scoreless outings. Earned 2024 California Collegiate Athletic Association Spring Honor Roll recognition and also earned a 2023-24 D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

At Azusa Pacific: Made 10 appearances with two starts for the Cougars in 2023. Had 16 strikeouts over 18 1/3 innings. Went 1-1 with a 4.91 earned run average. Appeared in six games with one start in 2022. Had four strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings. Made 17 appearances on the mound in three seasons for the Cougars with three starts. Had a 1-1 record with an 8.68 earned run average. Earned Academic All-PacWest honors in his final two seasons.

At Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School: Earned first-team All-League honors twice and was a team captain for three seasons. Was the team’s Most Valuable Pitcher after compiling a 1.43 earned run average over 68 innings as a senior. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Michael and Alejandra Gill. Pursuing a Master’s degree in business management. Enjoys golfing, bowling and hiking. Lists pitching in front of 8,000 fans during summer ball in Canada and pitching in the final game of regionals and making it to the Super Regionals as his most exciting experiences in sports. Notes he hopes to play professional baseball or become a sports or entertainment lawyer.
