Cal State LA Athletics

2019: Was off to a promising start at third base for the Golden Eagles before his season was cut short by injury in his one year with the program. Started the first three games of the season for Cal State LA and hit .286 with two hits in seven at bats. Scored four runs and drove in one. Went 0-for-3 with two runs scored in his Cal State LA debut at Dixie State on Feb. 8. Went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI at Dixie State on Feb. 9. Played his final game and had two at bats against Colorado Mesa on Feb. 9.

At Cerritos College: Earned first-team All-Conference honors as a sophomore. Led the team with a .339 batting average with four home runs, 35 RBI and 34 runs scored. Hit .284 as a freshman with a team-leading 14 doubles and 22 RBI.
 
At St. John Bosco: Earned second-team All-Trinity League honors as a senior and sophomore. Hit .425 as a senior. Was a Scholar-Athlete three years in a row.
 
Personal: Son of Cristina Mercado. Majoring in business administration. Enjoys basketball and being outdoors. Lists his sophomore season at Cerritos College and winning the conference as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he enjoys watching moves, playing video games and lifting weights.
