Cal State LA Athletics

2013: Contributed for the Golden Eagles once again in his final year with the program. Appeared in 11 games and started twice. Hit .154 with two hits in 13 at bats. Scored one run and had three runs batted in. Had a pinch-hit, run-scoring single in a 16-9 win over California Baptist on March 4. Made his first start of the season and had a run-scoring single against Dixie State on Feb. 9. Also started against Fresno Pacific on March 23 and scored a run and had an RBI in an 8-2 win. For his career, appeared in 21 games with 15 starts. Hit .273 with 18 hits in 66 at bats. Scored 11 runs and had six RBI. 

2012: Appeared in 20 games for the Golden Eagles and started 13 times. Hit .288 with 15 hits in 52 at bats. Had a season-high four hits in seven bats with three runs scored at Biola on Feb. 13. Also had three hits against California Baptist on Feb. 4. Had two hits in games at California Baptist on Feb. 1 and against Cal State Stanislaus on Feb. 18.
 
2011: Picked up a hit in his only plate appearance on Feb. 5 against Cal Poly Pomona. Missed the remainder of the season with an injury and received a medical red-shirt.
 
At Allen Hancock Junior College: Earned first-team Western State North All-Conference honors as an infielder after leading the team with a .427 batting average. Also earned a conference Gold Glove award.
 
At Sheldon High School: Was a three-time All-Conference selection and an Under Armour Pre-Season All-American as a senior. Was on the school’s Honor Roll all four years. Competed in baseball and basketball.
 
Personal: Son of David and Leslie Straka. Majoring in communications. Enjoys swimming, hiking and lifting weights. Lists playing in the Oregon 5A state championship game in his junior year of high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
