Summary

Biography

2014: Was a main part of the pitching staff for a second season in his final year with the program. Appeared in 14 games and started eight times. Went 2-6 with a 5.66 earned run average. Walked 23 and struck out 27 in 55 2/3 innings pitched. Allowed only five hits and one run over five innings to get the win in a 9-8 victory over UC San Diego on Feb. 9. Turned in a masterful performance in his final start for the Golden Eagles. Went a season-high eight innings and gave up three runs to get the victory in a 6-3 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on May 1. For his career, made 27 appearances and started 20 times. Had a 10-9 record with a 4.57 earned run average. Walked 51 and struck out 73 in 145 2/3 innings pitched.

2013: Had a strong first season for the Golden Eagles and shared the team lead in victories with eight. Compiled an 8-3 record with a 3.90 earned run average. Was third on the team with 90 innings pitched. Made 13 appearances, 12 of them starts. Pitched six or more innings in 10 of his 12 starts. Tossed a five-hit, nine-inning shutout in a 7-0 win at Cal State San Bernardino on March 29. Was named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week and was also honored as the NCBWA West Region Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 25-31. Also threw seven shutout innings in a 20-3 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on March 3. Picked up a second win over Cal State Monterey Bay by going the distance in a 14-3 win at the CCAA Championship Tournament on May 11.

At Los Angeles Valley College: Earned first-team All-Conference honors after going 9-3 with a 3.36 earned run average in 2012. Was 6-1 with a 1.71 earned run average in Western State-South Conference competition. Made 25 career starts at Los Angeles Valley College and threw a total of 160 1/3 innings. Won a total of 10 games.

At San Fernando High School: Earned All-City first-team honors.

Personal: Son of David and Alicia Armas. Majoring in mechanical engineering. Enjoys movies and sports. Lists winning the CCAA Tournament in 2013 as his most exciting experience in sports.
