Biography

2014: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Earned All-West Region honorable mention from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Started all 48 games for the Golden Eagles. Hit .306 with 53 hits in 173 at bats. Had three home runs, 40 runs batted in, 22 runs scored, 12 doubles and one triple. Led the team in RBI and was second in batting average. Earned NCBWA and CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of March 24-30. Went 4-for-11 with two home runs, 11 RBI and four runs scored against Cal State San Bernardino. Went 2-for-3 with a home run and a career-high six RBI in a 10-4 win over Cal State San Bernardino in the opener of a doubleheader on March 29. Had a grand slam and two walks in a 6-3 win in the nightcap. Was 3-for-4 with two home runs and 10 RBI in the two games. Also went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI in a 7-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona on March 6. Went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in a 12-2 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 23. Also pitched a scoreless inning of relief at Cal State East Bay on April 26. Had 14 multi-hit games, including four three-hit games. Was one of two Cal State L.A. recipients of the 2013-14 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award from the CCAA for academic and athletic accomplishments. For his career, appeared in 103 games and started all of them. Hit .331 with 122 hits in 369 at bats. Had eight home runs, 62 runs scored and 90 RBI. Also had 24 doubles and two triples.

2013: Had a sensational first season with the Golden Eagles. Earned first-team All-CCAA honors after leading the team in hitting with a .352 batting average. Also earned first-team Daktronics All-West Region, first-team NCBWA All-West Region and second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region honors. Started 55 of the team’s 57 games. Hit safely in 40 contests and had 20 multi-hit games. Had five home runs, 40 runs scored and 50 RBI. Led the team in on-base percentage (.476) and walks (40). Had a season-high four hits in three games. Was 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI against California Baptist on Feb. 2, went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI against Cal State Monterey Bay on March 3 and was 4-for-5 with one run and one RBI against Cal State San Bernardino on March 28. Was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 4-10 after going 10-for-17 with six runs and six RBI in five games against California Baptist and Dixie State. Had an on-base percentage of .708. Was named the NCBWA West Region Player of the Week for Feb. 1-10 after going 15-for-26 with nine runs scored and nine RBI in seven games against California Baptist and Dixie State. Had an on-base percentage of .676. Was named to the CCAA Championship All-Tournament team. Had three hits and three RBI in a 9-0 win over Chico State on May 9 to open the tournament and was 2-for-5 with a season-high five RBI in a 15-3 win over Sonoma State May 11.

At Rio Hondo Junior College: Earned first-team All-Foothill Conference and All-Southern California honors in 2012 after hitting .372 with seven home runs and 47 RBI. Had 68 hits in 183 at bats.

At South Hills High School: Competed in baseball and basketball. Earned first-team All-CIF honors and was San Antonio League’s Most Valuable Player. Was named the school’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2010. Also earned first-team All-San Gabriel Valley honors and was a team Co-MVP. Earned the team’s Silver Slugger Award as a junior and earned first-team All-CIF honors. Earned first-team All-League honors as a sophomore in 2008 and earned the team’s Rookie of the Year award.

Personal: Son of Pat and Charm Doyle. Majoring in communications. Enjoys baseball and golfing. Lists winning a CIF title as his most exciting experience in sports.
