Biography

2015: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from the National Baseball Writers Association, Daktronics and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Also earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. An excellent student as well, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honors. Appeared in 41 games and started 40 times. Hit .362 with 50 hits in 138 at bats. Had four home runs, 22 runs batted in, 27 runs scored and 10 doubles. Led the team in batting average and on-base percentage (.464). Went 2-for-3 with a career-high three runs scored and a career-high tying four RBI in a win over Cal State San Bernardino on April 25. Hit a second-inning grand slam in a 16-9 victory. Went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBI in a 7-2 win over Chico State on April 4. Had a total of 15 multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 performance in an 8-2 win over California Baptist on Feb. 5. Was one of two Cal State L.A. recipients of the 2014-15 Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award from the CCAA for academic and athletic accomplishments. For his career, appeared in 104 games and started 88 times. Hit .305 with 102 hits in 334 at bats. Had six home runs, 45 RBI and 54 runs scored.

2014: Had a strong junior season in his return to Cal State L.A. Appeared in 34 games and started 26 times. Hit .250 with 25 hits in 100 at bats. Scored 13 runs and had 13 RBI. Had a big two-run double to spark a five-run ninth inning rally in a 12-11 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 22. Finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a career-high four RBI. Also had three hits and two RBI at San Francisco State on April 11. Had a 10-game hitting streak from Feb. 15-March 3 and hit safely in 18 of 26 starts with five multi-hit games.

At Rio Hondo Junior College: Left Cal State L.A. for one year and had an outstanding season for the Roadrunners in 2013. Earned first-team All-Foothill Conference honors after hitting .333 with three home runs, 20 RBI and 27 runs scored in 123 at bats.

2012: Had a solid freshman season with Golden Eagles. Appeared in 29 games and started 22 times. Hit .281 with 27 hits in 96 at bats with two home runs, 10 RBI and 14 runs scored. Had seven hits in back-to-back games against Cal State Stanislaus. Went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI on Feb. 17 and came back to go 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI in the opener of a doubleheader on Feb. 18. Hit safely in 15 of his 22 starts with seven multi-hit games.

At Sante Fe High School: Was the Del Rio League Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-CIF Division 3 honors in 2010. Also earned first-team Daily News recognition. Was the team’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2009 and earned first-team All-Del Rio League honors. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Jesus Cuevas and Lillian Morgan. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys lifting weights. Lists playing in the 2010 WWBA World Championships in Jupiter, Florida and playing in the 2009 USA Breakthrough Series as his most exciting experiences in sports.
