Cal State LA Athletics

2015: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Started all 48 games. Hit .327 with 52 hits in 159 at bats. Had four home runs, 38 runs scored and 30 runs batted in. Led the team in runs scored, RBI, doubles (25) and walks (28). Earned second-team All-West Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and third-team All-Region honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Also earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Went 6-for-8 in back-to-back wins at Cal State East Bay on March 27-28 with four runs scored, five RBI, a home run and four doubles. Also went 3-for-4 with one run scored in a 3-2 win over UC San Diego on April 30. Scored a season-high three runs in a 16-9 win over Cal State San Bernardino on April 25. Had 15 multi-hit games. For his career, appeared in 86 games and started in all of them. Hit .301 with 83 hits in 276 at bats. Had four home runs, 31 doubles, 62 runs scored and 46 runs batted in. 

2014: Had an impressive first season with the program. Appeared and started in 38 games for the Golden Eagles and was one of the team’s best outfielders. Hit .265 with 31 hits in 117 at bats. Was third on the team with 24 runs scored third in runs batted in with 16. Hit safely in 22 games and had eight multi-hit games. Had a season-high three hits and with two runs scored and two RBI in a 12-11 victory at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 22. Also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI against Chico State in a 7-4 victory on March 15. Also had two hits and two RBI in a 13-5 win at Cal State San Bernardino on March 28.

At Cypress College: Hit .306 and had an on-base percentage of .431 for a team that won a California state championship in 2013.

At Cypress High School: Earned first-team All-Empire League honors and was voted the Defensive Player of the Year. Was named a Top-Five Player in Orange County and was selected to the U18 USA Baseball Team tryouts.

Personal: Son of Rory and Leslie Zaks. Majoring in business marketing. Enjoy going to the beach and to the lake. Named to back-to-back California Collegiate League All-Star teams. Lists winning a state championships at Cypress College, going to the U18 USA Trials and being a two-time California Collegiate League All-Star as his most exciting experience in sports.
