Cal State LA Athletics

2015: Was a big part of the bullpen once again for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Made 14 relief appearances and had a 1-2 record with a 4.86 earned run average and three saves. Pitched a total of 16 2/3 innings and had six walks and 13 strikeouts.  Led the team in saves. Pitched a season-high 2 2/3 scoreless innings in his final appearance, a 3-2 win at UC San Diego on May 2. Retired all eight batters he faced and picked up the victory. Pitched a scoreless inning to lock down a 6-5 win over Sonoma State on Feb. 21 for his first career save. Got the final out by strikeout to preserve a 6-5 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on March 22. Pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to save a 9-7 win at Cal State East Bay on March 27. Didn't allow a run over his final three appearances, covering four innings. Didn't allow a run in nine of his 14 appearances and allowed one or no runs 12 times. For his career, appeared in 29 games, all in relief. Went 1-3 with a 6.75 earned run average. Walked 19 and had 29 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings pitched.

2014: Made 15 relief appearances for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Finished the season with a 0-1 record and an 8.64 earned run average. Pitched a total of 16 2/3 innings and walked 13 while striking out 16. Didn’t allow a run in four outings, including three straight appearances against Cal State San Bernardino on March 27-29. Allowed only one hit in 3 2/3 innings of that series with two walks and four strikeouts. Also pitched a scoreless inning against UC San Diego, allowing only one hit with one strikeout, on April 5.

At Riverside City College: Appeared in 14 games as a reliever for the Tigers over his two-year junior college career.

At Etiwanda High School: Competed in baseball.

Personal: Son of Alfred and Ruthie Oropesa. Majoring in business marketing. Enjoys fly fishing, camping and hiking. Lists winning a CIF championship and being invited to the 18U USA tryout as his most exciting experience in sports.
