Biography

2014: Was a major part of the pitching staff for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 11 games and started nine times. Went 2-5 with a 5.53 earned run average. had 33 walks and 46 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings. Made his return for the Golden Eagles after missing a season and tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings against California Baptist on Feb. 3. Allowed one hit and one walk and struck out four. Had a phenomenal start and pitched a three-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona on March 6. Earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association West Region Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 3-9. Also picked up California Collegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week accolades. Walked only one and recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts. Allowed four hits and two runs over 5 2/3 innings to pick up the victory in a 12-2 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 23. For his career, appeared in 24 games with 21 starts. Had a 6-6 record with a 4.05 earned run average. Had 71 walks and 125 strikeouts in 135 2/3 innings pitched.

2013: Did not compete for the Golden Eagles and was a red-shirt.

2012: Was one of the team’s best pitchers in his first year with the program. Compiled a 4-1 record with a 3.07 earned run average. Shared the team lead in starts with 12 and led the team in innings pitched with 82 and strikeouts with 79. Picked up his first victory when he allowed only three hits and one run over 7 2/3 innings to beat Chico State on March 31. Blanked Cal State Monterey Bay by scattering eight hits over eight innings of a 3-0 win in his next start on April 6. Allowed only two hits and one earned run over six innings to win his third straight start, 8-5, over Sonoma State on April 14. Got his final win when he didn’t allow an earned run over seven innings of a 6-5 win at Cal State East Bay on April 30. Also picked up a save by allowing only one run over four innings of a win over Concordia on Feb. 8.

At L.A. Pierce College: Earned second-team All-Conference honors after going 6-2 with a 2.25 earned run average as a sophomore in 2011. Earned All-Conference honorable mention after going 6-4 with a 2.79 earned run average in 2010.

At Taft High School: Earned first-team All-League honors in 2007-08 and All-City recognition in 2008. Was the team Most Valuable Player in 2008. Was a four-year varsity player.

Personal: Son of Tino and Rennie Santhon. Majoring in communications. Enjoys hanging out with friends. Lists throwing a complete game in the first round of playoffs as his most exciting experience in sports. Will be graduating this spring.
