Biography

2013: Had an outstanding season and showed tremendous improvement for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 53 games and started all of them. Hit .325 with 69 hits in 212 at bats. Had four home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 56 runs scored and 29 runs batted in. Was second on the team in runs scored. Earned All-West Region honorable mention from the National College Baseball Writers Association and earned a West Region Gold Glove from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Also earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and was named to the All-CCAA Tournament Team. Had a career-high four hits, including a home run, scored two runs and had two RBI in a 9-5 win at Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 21. Went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 20-3 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on March 3. Also had three hits and scored two runs in a 7-4 win at Cal State Stanislaus on March 9. and had three hits, one run scored and two RBI in an 11-9 win against UC San Diego on March 15. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of April 8-14 after going 6-for-15 with two doubles, a triple and a two-run home run in a four-game sweep against Cal State East Bay. Also had three walks and compiled an on-base percentage of .526 in the series with a slugging percentage was .867. Went 3-for-9 with six runs scored and four RBI in CCAA Tournament wins over Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State on May 11. Had 23 multi-hit games. For his career, appeared in 88 games and started all of them. Hit .270 with 94 hits in 348 at bats. Had five home runs, 46 RBI and 73 runs scored. Was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 21st round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

2012: Started in 35 games for the Golden Eagles in his first year with the program. Hit .184 with one home run, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored. Stole three bases in three attempts. Had a four-hit game in his Cal State L.A. debut at Cal Baptist on Feb. 1. Also had three hits and a season-high three RBI against Chico State on March 30. Had six multi-hit games.

At Cabrillo College: Earned second-team All-Conference honors after leading the team with 29 runs scored. Hit .260 and did not commit any errors in the field. Also played for one year at San Jose City College and earned second-team All-Conference honors. Went to Cabrillo after San Jose dropped its program.

At Archbishop Mitty High School: Competed in baseball and cross country. Earned All-WCAL honorable mention and first-team All-San Jose Mercury News honors.

Personal: Son of Don and Nancy Masik. Majoring in communication. Enjoys going to the beach. Lists winning the state 9-10 All-Stars as his most exciting experience in sports.
