Biography

2013: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Made a team-best 15 starts and had a 7-3 record with a 2.83 earned run average. Had 14 walks and 84 strikeouts in 114 1/3 innings pitched. Led the team in victories, innings pitched and strikeouts. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics and All-West Region honorable mention from the National College Baseball Writers Association. Also earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team.  Picked up his first victory for the Golden Eagles with seven shutout innings in a 4-0 win over Dixie State on Feb. 9. Allowed seven hits and didn't walk anyone while striking out six. Tossed a nine-inning complete game in a 9-2 victory over San Francisco State on Feb. 15 in his next start. Allowed only two hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in a nine-inning complete game in a 4-0 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on March 1. Was named CCAA Pitcher of the Week for that performance. Tossed eight scoreless innings and allowed only three hits in a victory over Cal State San Bernardino on March 28. Didn't walk anyone and struck out a season-high nine in a 9-0 win. Was magnificent in a 9-0 victory over Chico State in a CCAA Tournament Game on May 9. Pitched eight shutout innings, allowing only four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Was drafted in the 19th round by the Atlanta Braves in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
 
At Arkansas Pine-Bluff
: Made five appearances, all starts, for the Division I program.

At Allan Hancock Junior College: Earned second-team All-Western State-South Conference honors as a sophomore in 2011. Had a 5-3 record with a 3.65 earned run average and was the team Most Valuable Player. Made 12 starts and threw a total of 74 innings. Was also 1-1 as a freshman and used primarily in relief.

At St. Joseph High School: Earned second-team All-League honors as a junior and senior and was on the 2009 All-Star team. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Randy and Kathy Sechler. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys lifting, friends and video games. Lists picking up his first win in Division I baseball in 2012 against Southern University as his most exciting experience in sports. Was named to the New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star team in the summer of 2012.
