Summary

Biography

2009: Had a tremendous season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 49 games and started 45 times. Hit .301 with 53 hits in 176 at bats. Had eight home runs, 10 doubles, one triple, 34 runs scored and 40 runs batted in. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Also earned second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team. Went 3-for-6 with two home runs, a double and a season-high four RBI at Cal State Monterey Bay on April 3. Hit a solo home run in the ninth inning and a two-run home run in the 10th inning of a 16-9 victory. Went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and three RBI in a 7-3 win over Cal State Stanislaus in the nightcap of a doubleheader on April 11. Had a double and three RBI in an 11-6 win in the opener. Went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in a 13-7 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in a CCAA Tournament game on May 8. Went 5-for-12 with one run scored and four RBI in the tournament. Was selected in the 19th round by the St. Louis Cardinals in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

At Pepperdine University: Appeared in 35 games and started 21 times as a sophomore in 2008. Hit .207 with 19 hits in 92 at bats. Scored eight runs and had eight RBI. Hit .254 with three home runs and 18 RBI as a freshman in 2007. Played in 42 games and started 34 times. Threw out 11 of 27 would-be base stealers (41 percent). Hit his first collegiate home run against Minnesota on March 17, 2007 and also drove in a season-high three runs. Was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team.

At Los Osos High School: Was the Baseline League’s Most Valuable Player and was named a Playstation All-American. Batted .400 with three home runs and 33 RBI. Was a three-time All-Baseline League first-team selection. Earned All-CIF honors and played in the Area Code All-Star game. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of Scott and Kim Tartamella. Majoring in criminal justice. Enjoys going to the lake. Lists playing at Angels Stadium as his most exciting experience in sports. Was drafted out of high school by Tampa Bay.
