Cal State LA Athletics

2009: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Made 25 appearances with two starts. Had a 3-4 record with a 4.24 earned run average and nine saves. Had eight walks and 30 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and also received second-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Got the final three outs in a 5-2 win over Cal State San Bernardino to pick up his first save on Feb. 8. Tossed three scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while walking one and striking out three to get his first win in a 9-7 victory over Cal Poly Pomona on Feb. 11. Had a four-inning save in a 10-5 victory over San Francisco State on Feb. 21. Allowed six hits and one run with no walks and three strikeouts. Didn't allow a run in 15 outings and allowed only one run in seven more. After allowing seven earned runs in four innings in his final start, gave up only seven runs in 16 relief appearances spanning 25 innings and only four runs in 14 appearances covering 20 1/3 innings. 

At USC: Set a USC single-season record for most appearances with 40 and logged 63 innings pitched in 2006. Had a 3-2 record with a 4.00 earned run average. Walked 32 and struck out 33 with opponents batting .258 against him. Allowed only one home run in 225 at bats against him. Recorded first collegiate win on Feb. 14 with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief against UC Santa Barbara. Also picked up wins over Stanford and Oregon State. Got out of bases-loaded jams in the 11^th and 12^th innings and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings for the win against Stanford. Earned Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing 4 1/3 scoreless innings in two appearances and picking up a win.

At West Torrance High School: Earned league Most Valuable Player honors as a senior. Had a 12-2 record with a 1.37 earned run average. Earned All-CIF first-team and All-League first-team honors. Was a two-time All-Section, two-time All-Area and two-time All-League selection. Also made the National Classic All-Tournament team. Competed in baseball and football.

Personal: Son of John and Susan Dunn. Is pursuing his Master’s degree in business administration. Enjoys going to the beach and watching USC football. Lists winning the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week award against Oregon State in 2006 as his most exciting experience in sports.
