Cal State LA Athletics

2014: Was a big contributor once again for the Golden Eagles in his second and final year with the program. Appeared in 38 games and started 33 times. Hit .255 with 27 hits in 106 at bats. Had four doubles, 11 runs scored and 11 runs batted in. Went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored in a 12-11 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 22. Went 2-for-5 with two RBI in a 12-3 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 23. Had a hit and two RBI in a 6-3 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on May 1. Had six multi-hit games and finished the season on a five-game hitting streak. For his career, appeared in 89 games and started 83 times. Hit .266 with 77 hits in 290 at bats. Had 41 runs scored and 43 RBI. 

2013: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagle program. Appeared in 51 games and started 50. Hit .272 with 50 hits in 184 at bats. Also played outstanding defense at shortstop. Had 14 multi-hit games. Raised his average from .160 on Feb. 17 to a high of .305 on April 13. Was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI against Cal State Monterey Bay on March 3. Also had three hits and three RBI at Chico State on May 3. Delivered a game-winning bunt single to cap a six-run ninth-inning rally in a 10-9 win over Cal State East Bay on April 14. Went 6-for-22 with two runs scored and two RBI while playing some solid defense during the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament. Was named to the CCAA Championships All-Tournament team.

At L.A. Mission Junior College: Hit .330 with two home runs, 19 RBI and 29 runs scored in 2011 and earned first-team All-Western State-South Conference honors. Hit .412 as a freshman in 2010 with two home runs and 32 RBI and earned second-team All-Conference recognition.

At Cleveland High School: Earned team awards in 2007 and 2008 as the Defensive Player of the Year.

Personal: Son of Anthony and Elizabeth Garcia. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys umpiring and practicing with younger cousins. Lists being picked to finish sixth in the conference and then winning the CCAA Championship Tournament as his most exciting experience in sports.
