Summary

Biography

2015: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles in his final year with the program. Appeared in 12 games, all in relief. Had an 0-1 record with a 2.33 earned run average and two saves. Had eight walks and 15 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings pitched. Picked up his saves in back-to-back appearances. Allowed only two hits and one run over the final three innings of a 9-7 win over Chico State on April 3. Pitched a scoreless ninth inning to nail down a 6-4 victory at Cal State Stanislaus on April 11. Pitched a season-high 3 1/3 scoreless innings against UC San Diego in his final appearance with the program on May 1. Allowed only one hit and one walk and struck out a season-high three. Didn't allow a run in nine of his 12 outings  For his career, made 23 appearances, including three starts. Had an 0-3 record with a 3.44 earned run average and seven saves. 

2014: Had an outstanding season until injuries forced him out in early April. Led the Golden Eagles with five saves. Had a 0-2 record with a 4.67 earned run average. Made 11 appearances, eight of them in relief. Didn’t allow a run in six of those outings. Picked his up first save while tossing a scoreless ninth inning in a 2-0 win at UC San Diego on Feb. 8. Came back the next day and picked up another save after limiting UC San Diego to two hits and no runs over 1 1/3 innings of a 9-8 victory. Picked up his third save in a wild 12-11 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Feb. 22 and recorded saves in 5-3 and 7-4 wins over Cal State Stanislaus on March 2-3. Made his final appearance on April 5 and allowed only one earned run over three innings against UC San Diego.

At Rio Hondo Junior College: Was 2-2 with a 3.83 earned run average in 19 appearances and six starts in 2013. Struck out 35 in 49 1/3 innings. Team went undefeated in conference and advanced to the state finals. Was 4-0 as a freshman with 1 save in 15 relief appearances.

At Sante Fe High School: Was the team Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-Area, first-team All-League and second-team All-State honors as a senior. Earned first-team All-League and All-CIF honorable mention as a junior. Earned All-League honorable mention as an infielder as a sophomore. Competed in baseball and basketball.

Personal: Son of Rudy and Becky Casillas. Majoring in communications. Enjoys coaching an elite travel ball team. Lists going to the state finals at Rio Hondo as his most exciting experience in sports. Has a son, Zac.
