Cal State LA Athletics

2025: Was one of the team’s best players again in his second and final year with the program. Started 50 of the Golden Eagles’ 51 games. Hit .262 with 48 hits in 183 at bats. Had five home runs, 37 runs batted in and 27 runs scored. Had an outstanding season defensively and made only three errors in 232 chances for a .987 fielding percentage. Hit a game-winning two-run home run in the 10^th inning of a 9-7 victory over San Francisco State on March 16. Went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 13-5 win at Cal State East Bay on April 4. Had a home run and three RBI in an 8-6 win over Sonoma State on March 30. Had home runs in back-to-back wins at Cal State Dominguez Hills on May 1 and 2 to help the Golden Eagles reach the CCAA Tournament. Hit safely in 31 games with 13 multi-hit games, two three-hit games and one four-hit game. For his career, appeared and started in 100 games. Hit .296 with 114 hits in 385 at bats. Had nine home runs, 72 RBI and 68 runs. Hit safely in 70 games including 31 multi-hit games, eight three-hit games, one four-hit game and one five-hit game.

2024: Was one of the team’s best players in his first year with the program. Started all 50 games for the Golden Eagles and hit .327 with 66 hits in 202 at bats. Had four home runs, 35 runs batted in and 41 runs scored. Was tied for fourth on the team in runs scored and tied for third in RBI. Made his Cal State LA debut and went 2-for-5 with two runs scored at Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 5. Went 5-for-6 with three runs scored at Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 3. Hit his first home run with the Golden Eagles, a solo shot against Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 9. Hit a two-run home run as part of a three-RBI day at Sonoma State on April 14. Hit solo home runs in back-to-back games against Cal Poly Pomona on April 20-21. Hit safely in 39 games. Had 18 multi-hit games, including six three-hit games and one five-hit game.

At St. Mary’s College: Played for three seasons with the Division I Gaels. Appeared in 98 games and had a career average off .220 with one home run, 16 RBI and 25 runs. Had his most productive season in 2022, appearing in 45 games and hitting .240 with one home run, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored in 96 at bats.

At Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary HS: Earned second-team All-League honors as a junior. Hit .364 during a four-year varsity career while recording 116 hits, 55 runs batted in and five home runs. Earned first-team Camino Real All-League honors three years in a row and was named to the Del Rey All-League first team as a senior.

Personal: Son of Luis and Mayra Espinoza. Pursuing a Master’s degree in business administration marketing. Lists building friendships with teammates over the years as his most exciting experience in sports.
